Litchfield School Board Meeting
The Litchfield School Board held its annual election of officers last night. Alex Carlson will continue in his role as Chair; with Darrin Anderson as Vice Chair, Julie Pennertz as Clerk, and Marcia Provencher as Treasurer.
The Board will continue to meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. and Board members will continue to receive salaries of $60 per regular meeting and $45 for special meetings, with the Chair receiving an extra $5 per meeting. In the consent agenda, the personnel matters included the resignation of high school band teacher Dave Ceasar who has been on a leave of absence. Ceasar’s last day was December 21st of 2023. The consent agenda also included the 2024 membership renewal with the PACT for Families collaborative for $2,287.50.
Superintendent Beckie Simenson went over the schedule of events for Monday, January 15th as students will have no school, but there will be a staff development day. She also told the Board that the Food Service program received a 2024 Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation program food grant of $29,448 and an equipment award of $15,000.
The Board had some discussion about 6th grade athletics which could include boys and girls cross-country, wrestling, track, golf and tennis. The matter will be an action item on the Board’s next agenda. Also last night, the Litchfield School Board approved of the 2023-24 Civic Arena lease with the City of Litchfield.
