Two-Vehicle Crash
On Saturday at 09:51 a.m, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Renville County Roads 4 and 5, about six miles south of Bird Island in Norfolk Township. Responders on the scene located a 1999 MACK 600 Tractor Truck, with a single occupant and a 2011 Nissan Altima with a single occupant and a dog.
Both vehicles were located off the roadway with significant damage. The preliminary crash investigation revealed that the Nissan Altima was traveling east on County Road 4 when it collided into the MACK Tractor Truck, which had been traveling southbound on Co Rd 5. Driver’s of both vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene. The dog survived with unknown or no apparent significant injuries and was released to family members.
The truck was driven by 62-year-old Dean Schroeder of Renville. The Altima was driven by 22-year-old Emily Didier of Lanesboro. Assisting on the scene were: The Minnesota State Patrol, Bird Island Fire, Bird Island Medical Response Unit, Olivia Ambulance, Olivia Fire Department, Olivia Tactical Response Team, Kandiyohi Tactical Response Team and the Renville County Highway Department. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
