Meeker County Board Meeting
The Meeker County Board of Commissioners meeting began with recognition of the McCarney Family of Harvey Township as the Farm Family of the Year. Extension Educator Karen Johnson spoke about the McCarney Family.
Johnson says the McCarney Family began farming in Harvey Township in 1867, and the 7th generation of the family now lives on the farm, and they are very active in the community. Joe McCarney said that it was nice that a farm family is recognized every year.
The Meeker County Board of Commissioners approved of a proposal from Climate Makers for the replacement of a condensing unit at the Family Services Center for $88,900; approved of the purchase of a Ford F-150 pick-up truck from Atwater Ford for $43,790.49; approved of a lease agreement with Woodland Centers for space at the Family Services Center for $2,992.80 per month; approved of a per diem increase for Veterans Service Office volunteer drivers to $45 per day for the St. Cloud area and $50 per day for the Twin Cities area; and approved of a memorandum of understanding regarding the addition of Public Health employees to the MNPEA collective bargaining agreement.
The Board also approved of a resolution for a joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota for use of the criminal justice data network; approved of a conditional use permit for the Robert & Melinda Jordan shore land project on Star Lake for Adam Kaping; approved of modifications to the revolving loan fund guidelines for interest rate adjustments; and approved of 2 donations of $2500 each from First District Association and COBank, ACB for the Sheriff’s Office drone program.
Board Chair Steve Schmitt began the meeting by recognizing several Meeker County employees for various years of service, and ended by recognizing Treasurer Sharon Euerle for 35-years of service.
