Meeker County Board Meeting
The Meeker County Board of Commissioners has approved of 2024 funding for water plan projects on several local lakes. Grants totaling $31,504 were approved for water quality projects on seven lakes and water testing for 12 lakes.
The water quality projects are at Cedar Lake, Clear Lake, Lake Jennie, Lake Washington, Lake Ripley, Lake Stella and Star Lake. The water plan group is made up of members from the Meeker County Association of Lakes, Soil & Water Conservation District, County Commissioners, Aquatic Invasive Species and Natural Resource Conservation Service.
The Commissioners received an update from Meeker Memorial Hospital officials – interim CEO Mary Ellen Wells and Chief Financial Officer Nicole Siegner. Meeker McLeod Sibley Community Health Services Director Kiza Olson also presented an annual report to the Board.
The County Board has approved of the 2024 contracts for Social Services with several of its vendors. Following a presentation by Human Resources Coordinator Mikkell Johnson, a proposal was approved with the David Drown Associates to perform ongoing compensation maintenance for $15,000 a year to ensure that the County’s wages are competitive with the market. Johnson also presented the updated personnel policies which the Board approved.
The Meeker County Board has approved of a resolution supporting the Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Plan and Aid; approved of a proposal from J&P Lighting for the replacement of the lighting at the Litchfield Transportation Building for $30,135.60; approved of a quote from Climate Makers to replace a condensing unit at the Family Services Center for $79,900; approved of the 2024 Medical Consultant contract with Dr. Whitney Reents for Public Health; approved of out-of-state travel for the County Engineer to attend the National Association of County Engineers in Riverside, CA in April; approved of an agreement with Minnesota Housing regarding the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Minnesota City participation program; and approved of policy updates to reflect the new Health & Human Services department.
The Commissioners also approved of appointing Barbara Loch to the position of Property, Records, Taxation and Elections Manager effective January 1st and appointing Paul Buchovich to the position of Health & Human Services Director effective January 1st.
