Litchfield School Board Meeting
The Litchfield School Board saw a presentation last night from members of the Litchfield Middle School Robotics Team. The 7th and 8th graders recently returned from their state competition.
Advisor Darin Swenson says that out of 572 teams, the Litchfield 8th graders placed 14th and the 7th graders places 28th. Robotics teaches the students about engineering and computer programming and they had their Lego robots perform various tasks on a table for the School Board members to see.
Middle School Principal Chelsea Brown and Elementary Principal Chris Olson presented mid-year building reports to the School Board last night. Business Manager Jesse Johnson presented information about the long-term facilities maintenance and operating capital plan last night which includes about $400,000 worth of maintenance and repair needed over the next couple of years for the swimming pool.
The Board approved of cancelling the March 25th School Board meeting due to spring break; approved of a leave-of-absence request for elementary teacher Jessica Smith for the 2024-25 school year; and approved of a contract with new Superintendent Susan Burris which includes compensation of $150,000 for 2024-25, $154,500 for 2025-26, and $159,000 for 2026-27.
The Litchfield School Board approved of a resolution accepting donations, including $250 from Miller Automotive for Litchfield High School Robotics, $935 from the Beno Blue Line Club for High School Girls Hockey Charter Bus Transportation, $1,250 from Litchfield Golf Club Inc. for a High School Boys Golf laptop, $200 from Litchfield Golf Club Inc. for the Lake Ripley Elementary 1st Grade Mother’s Day Project, and $1,000 from the VFW for Litchfield High School Robotics.
