Litchfield City Council Meeting
The Litchfield City Council has been looking into establishing a storm sewer rate which could help pay for future storm sewer projects. A public hearing has been scheduled for July 17th.
Following a public hearing, a first reading of a storm sewer ordinance would be held and a rate structure would be established. City Administrator David Czoik says a storm sewer rate could help raise about $250,000 a year to help pay for storm sewer projects.
Czoik also told the Council last night that the new city sales tax has been approved by the State and is ready to be collected starting July 1st. Despite the School District’s referendum failing last week, meetings are still being held this week between City and School officials regarding the Litchfield Area Recreation Center, and the City will begin looking at design and construction plans for its portion of the project. On a related matter, the Council approved of a motion to commit to a “no tax impact” for its portion of the Center.
Also last night, the Litchfield City Council approved of a conditional use permit for Jose Lopez at 822 North Holcombe Avenue to operate a repair business in a residential area – with conditions. Only one car may be worked on at a time – no “stacking” of vehicles, with hours of operation from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, no exterior storage and placement of appropriate sized signage.
