Litchfield City Council Meeting
The Litchfield City Council had another lengthy discussion last night regarding the possible sale of the restaurant at the Litchfield Golf Club. Shady’s, who currently leases the facility, expressed interest earlier this year in purchasing the building, but no decision was made last night.
City Administrator David Czoik again laid out three possible scenarios – approving of a short-term lease to provide more time for making a decision, approving a multiple year lease, or selling it. Council members Darlene Kotelnicki and Betty Allen were in favor of selling it, but the rest favored a short-term lease. After hearing from members of Golf Club Inc. and Shady’s, the Council approved of discussing the matter at a work session on December 18th at 4 p.m.
After learning that the community sign at the intersection of Sibley Avenue and Depot Street is no longer working and that the school district is no longer administering it, the Council approved of a motion to get quotes to see how much it would cost to either rehabilitate it or replace it.
The Council approved of a motion last night to have State Representative Dean Urdahl attend a December meeting to answer questions regarding the $2-million that the Legislature approved in the bonding bill for improving the facades of buildings in downtown Litchfield.
The Council heard from members of the Litchfield Area Recreation Center’s Core Planning Group and Project Oversight Committee. Viable locations for the facility are being looked at and soil borings have been gathered and there seems to be a preference for the Civic Arena location, but no decision has been made yet.
Also last night, the Litchfield City Council approved of a conditional use permit for Beau Munsell at 516 South Miller Avenue to move a manufactured home and garage to that location; and a preliminary and final plat were approved for Sparboe Addition at 102 Gorman Avenue North. Councilman John Carlson says Hicks Bus will be vacating that site and Sparboe will make the 4 lots into 3 and use it for storage.
