The Litchfield Area Mentorship Program has more activities coming up to help make people aware that it exists and to help match young people with positive adults. There’ll be a display during the Litchfield Fire Department’s open house tonight during Harvest Madness in Litchfield.
LAMP director Ami Bergquist says there’s a chili lunch today from 11-to-1:30 – along with a bake sale – in the Meeker County Courthouse basement conference room. The cost for the lunch is $8.
Bergquist says LAMP is in the midst of a 7-session “Keep Connected” workshop to help families of students who are transitioning into middle school and more sessions will be offered in the future. She says the Lunch Buddies program began again recently at Lake Ripley Elementary School in Litchfield.
Bergquist says Lunch Buddies is expanding to Dassel Elementary School and it will kick off on November 16th. She says Turkey Bingo is coming up on November 17th at 6:30 at the Litchfield Eagles Club.
Bergquist says there are always children on a waiting list to be matched up with a mentor – with about 9 on the list right now, but there are 4 adults who are in the final stages of being approved as mentors, so if anyone else is willing to be a mentor, they should call her at 320-699-1616. She says any child can benefit from having another caring adult in their lives.
