Litchfield Area Mentorship Program Seeking Mentors
The Litchfield Area Mentorship Program had some big fundraisers last month that went very well. About 140 porch planters were sold, the Turkey Bingo event on November 17th drew a huge crowd at the Eagles Club, and Steffes hosted an online auction for the organization.
Nate Walters says they had over 60 items on the online auction and he’d like to thank all of the businesses who donated items and the people who bid on the items. He says he’d also like to thank the Litchfield Kiwanis Club for all of the help with Turkey Bingo.
Walters says donations to the Litchfield Area Mentorship Program are welcome any time and may be sent to Post Office Box 82 in Litchfield. He says, as they are seeking mentors, the main thing they need to remember is that they can do simple things with their mentee – just spending time together.
Jenna Haynie says some people are afraid of applying to be a mentor because they think it will cost money, but you can just include your mentee in activities that you would be doing any way such as preparing a meal together. She says they just ask for a minimum 4-hour a month commitment.
Haynie says they have children on a waiting list and they especially need men, but the mentors can be individuals, couples or families. She says they also have the Lunch Buddies program at Lake Ripley Elementary in Litchfield and at Dassel Elementary School.
Anyone interested in becoming a mentor may call Jenna at 320-582-5267. You can also call Nate for more information about LAMP at 320-699-1616 or go to lampkinship.org.
