1967 Litchfield High School graduate Dean Urdahl was inducted into the Litchfield High School Hall of Fame on Friday night. Urdahl had a long teaching career in the New London-Spicer School District, is into his 8th term as a State Representative, and has had 9 of his books published.
Urdahl was born in Litchfield in 1949 and attended Wagner Elementary School the first year that it opened. He says his high school activities included football, swimming, basketball and speech, and then he went to college at St. Cloud State.
Urdahl says he taught American history at New London-Spicer for 35 years and was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2002. He says he’s authored numerous bills over the years that he’s proud of and has chaired the Bonding Committee which has enabled many improvement projects to be accomplished in this area, but he will probably be best remembered for his efforts to restore the State Capitol Building.
Urdhal says he’s very honored to be inducted into the Litchfield High School Hall of Fame. He and his wife, Karen, have 3 sons – Chad, Brent and Troy, and 10 grandchildren.
