Dassel-Cokato Community Theatre is in the midst of a production called “The Voice of the Prairie.” It opened last weekend and there are 3 more performances this weekend at the Dassel History Center.

“The Voice of the Prairie” is set in the early days of radio as huckster Leon Schwab travels the countryside selling so-called magic boxes by enlisting local talent to perform as enticement. When storyteller Davy Quinn is hired to broadcast tales of his childhood adventures with Frankie the Blind Girl, a national sensation is triggered.

The production can be seen tonight at 7 p.m., tomorrow at 6 p.m. – which is a dinner performance, and Sunday at 2 p.m. Award-winning director David Metcalf is directing the show.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for youth 18 and under, and, of course, it’s extra for the dinner before Saturday’s performance. For ticket information, call Dassel-Cokato Community Education at 320-286-4120. Tickets will be available at the door, beginning one hour before the performances.
